Big Bear Lake, California

Last Sunday we drove to Big Bear Lake, California (Matt had to be there Monday to Wednesday for work) and came home on Wednesday evening. We had a nice little get away. It was a neat little town and the weather was WONDERFUL, it was in the low 70's during the day and just cold at night. We did not do too much, but it was just nice to get away and Riley seems to be a good little traveler. While driving Matt and I realized that she is not even a year old and this is the 3rd state she has visited this year - first Georgia, then Nevada, and finally California, WOW!! Another funny note about her trips, they have all been to lakes - Lake Oconee, Lake Tahoe, and Big Bear Lake.

Nap Time

For some reason dad thought it was nap time, but Riley was not quite ready.

Going for a Stroll Around Town

Out for Lunch with Dad

Out by the Lake

Exploring the Hotel Room

While in the hotel room Riley had to make sure and explore every part of the room...
Playing under the nightstand.
Checking out the fireplace.
Playing under the sink.

Morning Coffee Time

It was quite chilly in the morning time so when we went around the corner to Starbucks Riley had to get all bundled up; she looked so cute!!

Playing with Mommy's Things

On our last day I was trying to get ready and Riley found my bag on the floor and began to explore everything in it. It was really funny because she held and examined each thing individually; it kept her entertained for a while.

Funny Eating Habits

While in Big Bear Lake, California we noticed Riley had a funny way of eating her puffs...watch and see.

Each time I would put a puff on her tray she would move it to the cup holder and then eat it, silly girl!

Sorry It's Been a While

I want to start by saying that I am sorry it has taken so long to update...our biggest problem is that our computer crashed and we had a get a new one. Also, Matt and I have decided to rent our house and so we have been VERY busy house hunting. So with those two things my spare time has been very minimal. Riley is doing great! I am loving the stage she is in right now. She is so much fun to play with, and I just love watching her eat. She is still enjoying food as long as it is not baby food so we have sweet potatoes, pears, peaches, banana, mango, peas, little chicken and meat sticks, and small pieces of pasta. She still does not have any teeth, but she chews her food so nicely. She loves to clap and wave. We just love her so much!!

The Ultimate Bad Hair Day

What a Face!?!

Riley fell asleep in the car the other day and I just love her face - her lips are poked out and her cheeks are plumped out too. I just thought she looked so cute.

Such a Happy Girl!!

I know this picture is not very clear, but it shows one of Riley's new tricks - clapping!!

Eating a Wagon Wheel

Recently we gave Riley a wagon wheel; it is like her puffs but is bigger. It was so cute to watch her eat it, she really enjoyed it. She ate the entire thing in 2 bites, WOW! (Of course she had sucked on it a bit so it got soggy.)

Still Loving Her Toys

Riley has really been playing a lot more these days. She loves to play with her toys. She will usually empty out her little toy bin and explore everything she has.

Playing Under the Table

Riley enjoys playing by/under the table. I thought it was a little funny that she is just tall enough to stand under the table!!

My New Favorite Picture

Riley decided that she should take over Mocha's bed and lay next to Bailey, poor dogs.

The Latest and Greatest

We have realized that Riley is growing up too fast. She no longer likes baby food, she want real food. So far she has enjoyed pears, bananas, carrots, and little chicken sticks; she has not enjoyed peas. It is so cute to watch her chew her food! She has also come to like her little cup, but not a sippy cup; it is one without the restrictions. For obvious reasons she does not get to hold it - water would end up everywhere, but she does very well drinking out of it. She is always on the move...she loves to follow the dogs around and pet them (or really pull their tails and ears). She is now starting to figure out how to clap, not really well yet, but she is on her way. We just love watching her learn and grow!

I'm a Princess

Hope's little crown got left in Riley's box of toys when we were at Shelly and Wayne's one day so I put it on Riley's head and she just played like it wasn't even there...
Such a pretty princess!!

Eating my Puffs

Riley is really enjoying feeding herself these days. I think she could eat puffs all day long (they are like a dry cereal, but dissolve quick and easy).

Playing with my toys

Riley loves to play, especially on this toy where she can practice her standing skills...

And yes, this is a toe separator that she is chewing on, but NO worries it has never been used.
