Sea World

While in San Diego we spent one day at Sea World and it was so much fun. Riley & Keegan had a great time. It was great because Keegan enjoyed it a lot more this year.

Matt & Riley...I just thought this was a really cute picture!

The sea lions!

The kiddos. Thought I would show off this wonderful picture - it is so hard to get a picture of two little ones.

It has become apparent that Keegan has something against Shamu; he slept through the Shamu show for the 2nd year in a row.

The Shamu Show :)

Keegan LOVED these little stuffed penguins.

The polar bear cave - it was a little scary to Riley.

We finally went on our much anticipated beach vacation, we spent a week on Mission Bay in San Diego and it was GREAT!! We enjoyed fantastic weather by playing on the beach, taking walks and just relaxing. And of course we visited Sea World one day!

Here is the great view from our patio.

Riley's Back in School

Riley's 1st day of school :)
(Sorry about the odd color, not so sure why it turned out like that.)

Riley's new shoes for school, she picked them out all by herself. Although, I must admit she did a good job, they are too cute!!

We have news...

Well, we finally got some answers that we have been looking for. I spoke with Dr. Nurko (Boston) on Sunday evening and we now have an answer and a plan. Everything with Keegan's abdominal ultrasound and scope were normal. The motility study showed that his intestines were healthy and functioning normally. The problem is with his stomach, it had an abnormal response to a meal; meaning it did not respond to the meal being present. Dr. N said it should not be a life-long issue, Keegan should grow out it in time. He did have a good response to erythromycin, but that is not our only answer. So for step one, we are going to add Periactin as a second medication to see if we get a better response with both. The hope is that the combination of the medications will help the stomach contract and move food through. Ideally this would also stop the vomiting, since the food would be moving and not just sitting in his stomach. There are other treatment options, but we are praying this one works.

Thanks for all the prayers through our journey. We know we still have a long road ahead, but we feel much relief to have found some answers. Also, to have found a GREAT doctor wanting the same goal as us - to make Keegan more comfortable!

Summer Fun

Wait...I am not so sure about this :(

Okay, maybe floating in the pool is fun :)

Decided that the water and sand table was more fun than the pool.

All ready to get in...complete with Tinkerbell bathing suit.

Riley loves to swim underwater (at least where she can touch)!!

Boston Update

Well, we finally made our big trip to Boston to visit Dr. Nurko at the Children's Hospital Boston...

Keegan did exceptionally well the whole time we were gone. Our plane ride there was uneventful and Keegan did great! We met with Dr. Nurko, who was wonderful. It was so refreshing to meet and talk to a doctor wanting the same thing for Keegan as us. It was discussed that regardless of what the tests did or did not tell us our overall goal is for Keegan to be more comfortable, get the vomiting under control and have him gaining weight and growing nicely. After our doctor visit Keegan had to have some pre-op tings done (chest x-ray, blood work, etc..) so we spent all of Monday afternoon at the hospital. Then off for dinner and some sleep before going back Tuesday morning. Tuesday we went in and Keegan had a scope done, which was good and they put in the catheter for the motility study that would be done the next day. The motility study was about 8.5 hours long and Keegan was great! He enjoyed endless hours of Mickey Mouse on the iPad and made it through the study without any problems. Once the study was over we met with Dr. Nurko briefly before leaving. It will be a couple of weeks before we have the results of the study, so now we just wait...patiently. Our flight did not leave Boston until Thursday evening so we had a chance to have a little fun time. We went to the New England Aquarium and enjoyed lunch at the park. The flight home was long and tiring, but Keegan was wonderful.

So happy to be home :) Although, must say that Children's Hospital Boston is an amazing place.

Decorating Easter Eggs

Grapevine, TEXAS

Last week Matt and I spent the week in Grapevine, Texas for a "fun" work trip. Overall it was a nice little break and we had some time to just hang out and relax.

The view from our little patio.

So happy to be feeling better after a couple of not so great days at the beginning of our trip.

Riley ready for the Easter Egg Hunt!!

Riley gathering eggs!

Keegan just chillin' while Riley "hunted" for eggs. (It was the 3 and under group, they made it pretty easy for them.)

Riley's all done, she had a basket full of eggs :)

Keegan and Goldfish

As you can see from the above pictures Keegan has a new favorite. He loves baby goldfish!! He has been doing very well with them and tonight even signed "more cracker" when he finished with the ones he had. He has also been drinking more from his cup lately. This is all very exciting for us :)

We are also happy that we have a new date for Boston, we will be going on May 22nd. We were obviously hoping for a sooner date, but we are happy to have it on the schedule again. We are definitely ready for it to be here and just praying to find some answers.
