Happy Birthday Dad!

Matt's birthday was Friday!! We had breakfast and then let dad open his presents (he had to work late). Riley always gives the best gifts, she told me that dad wanted a new watch so that is what he got...he loved it. Saturday morning we took Riley to her class at My Gym since we had to miss on Monday and this is were the weekend took a wrong turn. Riley was walking towards a moving swing and Matt decided to fly through the air to keep it from hitting her, well when he landed he did something funny to his foot. By the time we got home his big toe was very swollen, bruised, and bleeding. We debated all day about going to Urgent Care and then finally decided to go that evening...well, he broke his big toe. Not too much you can do for a broken toe; just buddy tape it, elevate it, ice it, and wear a pretty shoe! He is doing okay, but it is quite painful!! Sunday we had some friends and family over to celebrate Matt's birthday, so at least the weekend ended on a good note!

Now for toe pictures...

Now looking at this picture his toe does not look so bad, everyday it has gotten worse. The bruising has now moved farther down his foot from his toe and over at the base of all his other toes. It is crazy!!

Enjoying Birthday Cake

I was making Matt's birthday cake and Riley wanted to help, or at least eat it. I sat her on the counter next to me while I put the frosting on the cake and she decided that the cake on the plate (from making the bottom layer flat) looked tasty.

Riley Anne a.k.a. Elmo Junkie

Our little Riley who never used to watch much on TV has become an Elmo Junkie. We have a couple of Elmo DVDs and she loves them and now she has realized that we can turn them on whenever we what. So, now when she comes into the family room she gets up on the couch, tries to grab the remote control and says "Mo, Mo". Mo is what she calls Elmo, or sometimes it comes out as Melmo; she can't quite get the El part out. It is quite funny, but not so funny last night when she had already watched Elmo a couple of times so we told her Elmo was sleeping, that he had gone night-night and she was not too happy about that. It is a little crazy!

Now to update on the doctor visits...I had my 16 week appointment on Friday. The baby had a nice strong heartbeat, but other than that nothing much to report. We have our 18 week ultrasound on May 1st, we are very excited to find out if the baby really is a boy or is the baby a little girl? Only a couple more weeks!! Riley had here 15 month checkup this morning and she is doing just fine. She is on the tiny side, but they are not too concerned...she eats ALL the time and no, I am not just saying that, she definitely does not skip any meals or snacks. So for now they want us to give her PediSure at night before she goes to bed to see if that will help her gain a bit more weight. Other than that she is growing fine, 50% for her height and 55% for her head (she has been right there since she was born). She had to get one shot and she handled it like a pro, she did not cry, actually she did not even make a whimper. We were so proud!!

Looks Can Be Deceiving

Okay...let me explain. Matt and I had been looking for new patio furniture, we wanted something besides a table and chairs. So yesterday we found this set at Wal-Mart and decided on it. Well, the first picture is the box it came in; yes, the entire set - a love seat, 2 chairs, 2 ottomans, the table, and all the cushions. When we were leaving the store we had a VERY hard time believing that everything fit into that one box, but it actually did.

Eating Yogurt All By Myself

Riley has gotten pretty good eating with a spoon and fork, so now she always wants to do it by herself. She usually does a good job and is not even all that messy, well...with her yogurt on Friday she got a bit messy - it was funny!

Easter Day

We had a very nice Easter last weekend (I have discovered that I am just going to be a week late with posting). We spent the morning at home checking out what the Easter Bunny brought Riley, "hunting" Easter eggs, and having our traditional chocolate chip pancakes; although Riley did not like chocolate chip pancakes...she LOVES regular pancakes, but she did not like things in her pancakes. In the afternoon we went to Matt's parents and spent the rest of the day with family.

Starting to go through her Easter basket!

Learning her golf swing - that way she can go golfing with dad.

Hunting Easter eggs in our backyard!

Putting the egg into her "basket", actually her sand bucket.

Easter Bunny

We took Riley to see the Easter Bunny today. After our experience with Santa Claus we were anticipating the worst and trying to hope for the best. Well, we were apparently worried for no reason, she actually liked the Easter Bunny. She did not want to sit with him for too long, but she did sit with him without crying and we actually got a picture with a smile!!

Bath Time These Days

Riley has now decided that when taking a bath the more toys the better!

A Little Late...

Now that it is a new weekend I thought I should finally post about our last weekend, sorry! We had a very busy day on Saturday...in the morning Elmo was at Truwest (our bank) so we took Riley to see Elmo. She was very excited to see him, but when it came time to take a picture with him she was not so excited; apparently that was just a little too close. After seeing Elmo we had a quick lunch, Riley took a nap, and then we were off to Peter Piper Pizza for Nicole's 10th birthday. Riley had fun riding the carousel and playing in the big truck. Then of course she got to have her favorite - pizza!!

Messy Eating

Riley really likes eating rice and boy is it messy. It does not show up good in these pictures, but she also had it in her hair - it just seems to end up everywhere. As far as the last picture goes, I am not sure what the thumbs up was for, but it was cute and funny and we were actually able to get the picture.

Potty Time

Well, we have big news to spread...Riley went potty (number 2) in the big girl potty last week. I completely understand that it will probably not happen again any time soon, but it was still very exciting. Just the fact that she is starting to understand and show interest is good enough for me at this point!!

Watering the Plants

The other day I was watering the plants when Riley realized that if she got close enough to the water hose she could feel the water...well, then she realized she could get underneath the spray and really get wet. It was a nice warm day, what was the harm? She had lots of fun and I got the plants watered!!

A New Baby Is On the Way

Well, as you can see we are expecting, Riley is going to be a big sister!! We are due on October 2nd. So far this pregnancy has been the complete opposite of Riley's and I am feeling much worse than the first go around. I am really hoping in the next couple of weeks I will begin to feel better since we are now through the first trimester. We had our first ultrasound yesterday and so far everything looks really good. As you can see from the picture it looks like he is a thumb sucker already -- for those of you wondering where to look, the head is on the left, profile shot, you can see a little hand by the mouth, and on the right are the little legs. Now to explain...I stated "he" because the lady doing the ultrasound says she thinks about 70% chance that it is a boy, but there are no guarantees. We will know for sure at our next ultrasound at 18 weeks. But knowing that information makes it really hard not to say "he".

Playing with My Water Table

Saturday was such a beautiful day that we put water in Riley's water table and let her have fun and boy did she. She had a blast!! She likes to put rocks in her water table and as you can see from the pictures she got soaking wet.

Such a Cutie

Our Visit to the Zoo

Riley and I met some friends at the zoo last week! Riley enjoyed seeing the animals, although I think she was more interested in the mud puddles we found in the petting zoo area. She was definitely more interested in them than in petting the goats...silly girl!

WOW...What a Saturday

Today Riley had so much fun! We went to our cousin Ashley's 8th birthday party at a place called "Pump It Up". For those of you wondering what it is...it is a wonderful place to have a birthday party. It has two different rooms that you play in with really, really BIG bouncy things. At first Riley played with the little car they had there, but then I took her into one of the bouncy things (there were only a couple of kids in it at that time) and it was all over from there. Matt and I spent the next hour taking turns going in and out of the bouncy things, sliding, climbing, jumping...man it was exhausting. Riley had so much fun!! After that we went into a separate room for pizza and cake; once Riley had those she was ready for a nap. Needless to say we left the party a little early before she had a melt down.

Watch out, it's a new driver!!

Mom and Riley going down the slide (if you look at our hair you can tell you move rather quick on the slide). Riley wanted to keep doing it, she thought it was wonderful!!

Riley and dad about to go down (I tried to get an action shot, but the camera did not take the picture - I am sure it was user error).

After a few minutes in the car.

After her much needed nap we went over to Ashley's house for more birthday fun! Riley just wanted to play with the big kids. Once we returned home Riley found a new way to play with her shopping cart toy...she just wanted to sit in it.
