My First Haircut

Riley got her first little haircut this weekend! She had one section in the back that was quite a bit longer than the rest (I think it was the one part of her hair that she never lost since she was born); well, it was looking a little goofy so I trimmed it so it would be the same length as the rest of her hair and it looks much better now. In order to cut her hair we sat her in her chair outside with a popsicle, what a great distraction! She did great!!

Enjoying a Popsicle

As noted above this past weekend Riley got her first little haircut and the way to do it was to give her a popsicle to distract her and boy did it work. Riley really enjoyed the popsicle, or to her a "pop". She has also become quite the ham when the camera is out!

A Vist From Aunt Shannon

Aunt Shannon came for a visit this past weekend and Riley had lots of fun playing with her!

Another Boo Boo...

For the past couple of weeks I have been helping Matt take care of his broken toe. My job is to wrap it up in the morning so it is a little more comfortable for him to walk. Well, he is gone for a couple of days for work so I have a break from bandage duty...so I thought...
Yes, that is Bailey all bandaged up. This evening I noticed a dark spot on her back, I figured it was just dirt of some sort so I wiped it with a paper towel and it started bleeding. I then realized the dark spot is the scab (at least I think). Well, it kept bleeding and if I put any sort of pressure near the spot it would bleed more, so I figured my only option for now is to bandage her up. It was either that or she would have to go in her kennel all night, I cannot have blood spots all over the carpet and furniture. She is not too crazy about the bandage, but she is now relaxed and not trying to get it off. Such excitement!!

Mother's Day

We had a wonderful day around here for Mother's Day...sorry to say not too many pictures got taken, but that's okay. I did capture Riley having breakfast, apparently it is better to eat oatmeal with two spoons not just one.

After she had breakfast here (she has to eat right when she gets up) and we got ready we went out to breakfast at Cracker Barrel and it was yummy! We just hung out for a bit after that, we tried going shopping to get me some new clothes, with my ever expanding belly, but it was unsuccessful. After Riley took a nice nap we went to lunch with Matt's parents and sister at Outback which was also yummy! As you can see we had a great day of eating. We then spent the rest of the afternoon at Matt's parents. Overall it is just a nice day with the family!

I also got a shot of the new family living in our small palm tree...the mom has been sitting there for a while and then late last week I finally saw babies in there.

Now for a funny note...Matt and Riley gave me VERY sweet cards for Mother's Day, but the funny card goes to Baby Boy Klandrud this year - check out the front of the card from him. It gave me a good laugh!

To end I would like to thank my wonderful husband and daughter for a wonderful Mother's Day!

It's a Boy!!

We went for our 18 week ultrasound this morning and it's a boy! All of the measurements and things look really good so we were happy to hear that; so far so good. They are estimating that he is 8 inches long and weighs in at 1/2 lb. He was very nice to us, the first image we saw is the one posted below, we did not have to wait and hope we got to see if the baby was a boy or girl. We are almost half way there!

Here's a side shot, he is laying on his back and his head on the right.

After our visit we went for a healthy breakfast at McDonald's.

Here is what Riley did when I told her to give me a BIG smile...

Happy Birthday Dad!

Matt's birthday was Friday!! We had breakfast and then let dad open his presents (he had to work late). Riley always gives the best gifts, she told me that dad wanted a new watch so that is what he got...he loved it. Saturday morning we took Riley to her class at My Gym since we had to miss on Monday and this is were the weekend took a wrong turn. Riley was walking towards a moving swing and Matt decided to fly through the air to keep it from hitting her, well when he landed he did something funny to his foot. By the time we got home his big toe was very swollen, bruised, and bleeding. We debated all day about going to Urgent Care and then finally decided to go that evening...well, he broke his big toe. Not too much you can do for a broken toe; just buddy tape it, elevate it, ice it, and wear a pretty shoe! He is doing okay, but it is quite painful!! Sunday we had some friends and family over to celebrate Matt's birthday, so at least the weekend ended on a good note!

Now for toe pictures...

Now looking at this picture his toe does not look so bad, everyday it has gotten worse. The bruising has now moved farther down his foot from his toe and over at the base of all his other toes. It is crazy!!

Enjoying Birthday Cake

I was making Matt's birthday cake and Riley wanted to help, or at least eat it. I sat her on the counter next to me while I put the frosting on the cake and she decided that the cake on the plate (from making the bottom layer flat) looked tasty.

Just Hanging Out

Just a day hanging out at home...chatting on the phone (not really, but I like pretending) ,playing in my sandbox and water table, and being sweet to Bailey.

Riley Anne a.k.a. Elmo Junkie

Our little Riley who never used to watch much on TV has become an Elmo Junkie. We have a couple of Elmo DVDs and she loves them and now she has realized that we can turn them on whenever we what. So, now when she comes into the family room she gets up on the couch, tries to grab the remote control and says "Mo, Mo". Mo is what she calls Elmo, or sometimes it comes out as Melmo; she can't quite get the El part out. It is quite funny, but not so funny last night when she had already watched Elmo a couple of times so we told her Elmo was sleeping, that he had gone night-night and she was not too happy about that. It is a little crazy!

Now to update on the doctor visits...I had my 16 week appointment on Friday. The baby had a nice strong heartbeat, but other than that nothing much to report. We have our 18 week ultrasound on May 1st, we are very excited to find out if the baby really is a boy or is the baby a little girl? Only a couple more weeks!! Riley had here 15 month checkup this morning and she is doing just fine. She is on the tiny side, but they are not too concerned...she eats ALL the time and no, I am not just saying that, she definitely does not skip any meals or snacks. So for now they want us to give her PediSure at night before she goes to bed to see if that will help her gain a bit more weight. Other than that she is growing fine, 50% for her height and 55% for her head (she has been right there since she was born). She had to get one shot and she handled it like a pro, she did not cry, actually she did not even make a whimper. We were so proud!!

Looks Can Be Deceiving

Okay...let me explain. Matt and I had been looking for new patio furniture, we wanted something besides a table and chairs. So yesterday we found this set at Wal-Mart and decided on it. Well, the first picture is the box it came in; yes, the entire set - a love seat, 2 chairs, 2 ottomans, the table, and all the cushions. When we were leaving the store we had a VERY hard time believing that everything fit into that one box, but it actually did.

Eating Yogurt All By Myself

Riley has gotten pretty good eating with a spoon and fork, so now she always wants to do it by herself. She usually does a good job and is not even all that messy, well...with her yogurt on Friday she got a bit messy - it was funny!

Easter Day

We had a very nice Easter last weekend (I have discovered that I am just going to be a week late with posting). We spent the morning at home checking out what the Easter Bunny brought Riley, "hunting" Easter eggs, and having our traditional chocolate chip pancakes; although Riley did not like chocolate chip pancakes...she LOVES regular pancakes, but she did not like things in her pancakes. In the afternoon we went to Matt's parents and spent the rest of the day with family.

Starting to go through her Easter basket!

Learning her golf swing - that way she can go golfing with dad.

Hunting Easter eggs in our backyard!

Putting the egg into her "basket", actually her sand bucket.

Easter Bunny

We took Riley to see the Easter Bunny today. After our experience with Santa Claus we were anticipating the worst and trying to hope for the best. Well, we were apparently worried for no reason, she actually liked the Easter Bunny. She did not want to sit with him for too long, but she did sit with him without crying and we actually got a picture with a smile!!
