Soccer in Sandals

This is what happens when you play soccer in sandals. Matt was playing soccer with Riley in the backyard when he kicked the soccer ball and his sandal ended up on the roof.

First Day of School

Here are the pictures of Riley on her first day of school, preschool that is. We put her in a 2 year old preschool program on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. She started last Monday and so far LOVES it. I hope all that continues.
Our conversation after her first day:
Me: "Riley, what did you do at school today?"
Riley: "Kissed boys!"
WOW, that is not the answer I was expecting. I don't know for sure that is what happened...her teacher never saw that, but I do now she was hugging all the boys. She loves to give hugs so that did not surprise me. It could be worse, right? I have been explaining to her that we should not kiss all the kids at school, but we can give them hugs; so now she tells me, "no kiss boys". Who knew I would be having this conversation so soon!?!

4 Month/ 2 Year Check Up

The kids recently went to the doctor for their check up, Keegan's 4 month and Riley's 2 year. Overall they are doing great...growing and progressing like they should. They are both on the tiny side, but that is okay. Keegan had to get 2 shots; he was not too happy about that but he recovered quickly.

Keegan is now rolling from his back to his belly ALL the time. He has rolled from his belly to his back, but I think he forgot he can do that so he gets "stuck" on his belly and that is not always such a good thing. He is beginning to play with toys more and now wants to try and sit up when in his bouncy chair...building those muscles to sit on his own. He is doing much better with his sleeping at night, thank goodness! He smiles and laughs a lot more now; it is too cute!!

Riley is talking all the time now. It is just amazing and she has starting putting 5+ words together. It really does seem like overnight they change their talking. She is very funny!! One thing she said the other day that was new was "I don't know". I forget what I asked her, but she looked at me with a blank look and said "I don't know." It was rather funny, I guess she now knows what that means. I have also realized that even when you don't think she is paying any attention to you she is...you must always watch what you say.

Birthday Evening

Yesterday evening we took Riley to dinner at Rainforest Cafe to celebrate her birthday and Ella's birthday. Ella's birthday is the 23rd, but they will be out of town so we celebrated early. At first the girls did not know what to think about the noise and the animals, but by the end they enjoyed it and had lots of fun.

They are just too cute together! (It is very difficult to get two 2 year olds to look the same way and smile.)

Blowing out their candles!

The hard work is done, can we have desert now?

Birthday Morning

Yesterday, on Riley's birthday we gave her a new necklace. For Christmas Santa brought her a little necklace and she would wear it all the time so Matt really wanted to get her a little cross necklace. It is so cute!!

Happy 2nd Birthday!

Riley's cake.

Awaiting the time to blow out the candles.

Enjoying cake with friends.

Digging into presents.

Very cute birthday card...it turns into a hat!
We had Riley's birthday party over the weekend and it was lots of fun. At first I think it was a bit overwhelming, but she soon warmed up and had so much fun. As you can see the theme was Elmo, her favorite. She even got an Elmo blanket (Nana made it for her), but I have not gotten a picture yet...I will work on that. I only think about it when I want to post it on the blog, which is during nap time or bed time and since the blanket is on her bed that is a little difficult. The most impressive part of the day, she was able to blow her candles out all by herself!!
It is so hard to believe that our little girl is now two!! Next week she will be starting a preschool program for 2 year olds. She will go to "school" on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 to 11:00 am. We keep talking about it and she seems excited, but we shall see when the time comes. She is just growing up so fast.

An Update

I thought I would give a little update on the kiddos...

Keegan is growing like crazy, it is hard to believe that he is coming up on 4 months. I have to say that one of the things I love the most about him is that he laughs at me when I get him dressed. Most kids get upset when the shirt gets stuck on their head or you cannot get their pants up easily, not Keegan, he thinks it is really funny. He can be crabby, but he will still laugh when you change him. The other thing I love is that whenever I change his diaper he laughs when you wipe his little bum. He is so silly! He is starting to do a little better with his sleeping, but we still have some work to do. He is too cute and we are so blessed to have him in our family!

Riley is going great! She is talking more and more everyday and she is putting more and more words together, it is so cute. Now it is very apparent how good her memory is...it is just amazing; you can tell her something once and she will tell it back to you later and then over and over again. She loves pretending and being outside. She has been having a hard time with her sleep lately, I guess we have been pretty lucky to make it this far with her with no problems. I am hoping it is a phase and will pass, but it has been challenging. It is really hard to believe that we are coming up on her 2nd birthday! After she turns 2 she is going to start "school", it is a little 2 year old preschool class at a nearby church. I am so excited! I think she will love it (at least I hope so). She loves to be and play with other kids so I think it will be great...I will let you know.

Christmas Day

We had a wonderful Christmas this year, kids sure do make Christmas more fun! We spent the day with family and got to relax a bit. Santa did very well...he brought Riley a kitchen, a tea set, a ride on little 4-wheeler, and pink nail polish (that we have not used yet). Santa brought Keegan a Bumbo seat, a bear noise maker (to hopefully help him sleep better), and a couple little toys.

Here he is in his new Bumbo seat.

Riley and her kitchen, which she LOVES!

"Merry Christmas!"

Christmas Eve

Riley and I making cookies for Santa.

The guys hanging out while the girls made the cookies.

Family shot!

The best picture of the kids we could get in front of the tree. (Riley cannot hold Keegan for too long, nor does she really want to...we had to be quick.)

Santa's cookies by the Christmas tree - time for bed.

Enjoying a Cupcake

Decorating Cookies

Our friends had us over to decorate Christmas cookies a couple of weeks ago and we had lots of fun. Riley had fun making cookies for dad, but we managed to bring one cookie home for Santa.

Gingerbread House

This year making the gingerbread house was lots of fun with Riley. It held her interest for a bit, but she really just wanted to eat the icing and candy.

Next year Keegan can get in on all the fun!

Working hard...

The finished product, so pretty!!

Breakfast with Santa

Our church did breakfast with Santa last weekend...if you look at the first picture you can see how that went. Riley was excited and happy to see Santa until it was her turn to sit on his lap. We had talked about it hoping she would be okay with it, but there is always next year. Although if you ask her what Santa says she will say "Ho, Ho!" and if you ask her what Santa is going to bring her she will tell you pink polish for her toes, it is very cute.

This is not going well at all, but Keegan seemed quite content.

At least the screaming stopped!

Happy it is over and happy about the candy cane Santa gave her. At this point if you ask her if she had fun with Santa her response is "Yes!" (It does not seem as though she had fun, but if she thinks she did that is great.)
